Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover book review!

Title: Losing Hope
Author: Colleen Hoover
Date I finished this book: 6th July 2014
Rating: 5*

Losing Hope is a companion novel to Hopeless but told from the love interest's point of view. I'm normally not a big fan of companion novels because they just tell the same story, have the same dialogue and nothing interesting is added which tends to make them boring. But Colleen Hoover comes up with such unique ideas to make them different. It honestly didn't feel like I was reading the same story.

If you haven't read Hopeless, I would suggest reading it then come back because there will be some SPOILERS for Hopeless. I definitely recommend it as I would for any of Colleen Hoover's books!

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Summary:
In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery. Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him… Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.
(Summary from Goodreads)

I loved reading from Holder's POV! The added aspects to the story were amazing especially the diary entries from Holder to Les. They were so beautiful and funny at the same time! A lot of laughing out loud moments during the novel mostly from the inner workings of Holder's mind but also because of Daniel. I have read Finding Cinderella, the novella about Daniel and Sky's best friend, Six. It is a wonderful short story but I wish it was longer so it was lovely to have some great moments from Daniel in Losing Hope.
Even though this novel was still heartbreaking because it still follows Sky's revelations near the end of Hopeless, it felt a lot lighter. I loved reading about Sky through Holder's eyes because it really shows how much he loves her and not entirely because of who she really is. Sky & Holder are in my current top 5 couples! They just complete each other and they were definitely destined to be together.

If you have read Hopeless and you're not sure whether to pick up Losing Hope, you should!! It's incredible and you are really missing out if you don't. So of course, Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover gets 5 stars from me!

Favourite quotes:
“I've loved Hope since we were kids. But tonight? Tonight I fell in love with Sky.”
“I don't want her to feel nothing when I kiss her. I want her to feel everything.”
“In order to miss someone, that means you were privileged enough to have them in your life to begin with.”
“I can't explain to you how perfect this girl is. And when I say perfect, I mean imperfect, because there's just too much wrong with her. But everything wrong with her is everything that draws me in and makes her perfect.”
“F*** all the firsts, Sky. The only thing that matters to me with you are the forevers.”
“I used to think the best part of me died with Les, but the best part of me is standing right here in front of me.”
“I dip my head and kiss her. I kiss her like she deserves to be kissed. I hold her like she deserves to be held. And I'm about to make love to her like she deserves to be loved.”
“I love you, Holder. So much," she says firmly. "And just so you know...so did Hope." As soon as the words leave her mouth, I'm completely consumed by a sense of peace. For the first time since the second she was taken from me, I finally know what forgiveness feels like. "I wish you could feel what that just did to me." I claim her mouth with mine at the same time she completely consumes my heart.”
I have a lot more but then I'd just end up quoting the whole book!
